Blueman – AppsForce

MV Smart Solutions is a Serbian business that we found intriguing. As a non-EU entity, we offered to help them establish an outpost in the Netherlands and secure a grant to fund the construction of their minimum viable product (MVP).

The hospitality industry, such as restaurants and cafes, commonly experience large wastage of food and drinks, employ a lot of temporary staff with high turnover rates and large costs, and suffer from long wait times or poor service that affects customer satisfaction.

Our product – Blueman – is a completely automatic eatery. Customers can use their NFC-enabled mobile device, or an NFC card, to order food and drinks. Menus are displayed on phones, integrated tablets, or even beamed onto the tables, meaning customers don’t need to wait for a waiter. Orders go straight from the customer to the kitchen. Meanwhile, our ‘Drinks Wall’ allows customers to select any beverage they want with the tap of an NFC device.

Every order is totaled and billed automatically, leading to shorter wait times and fewer mistakes made by people.

The system keeps track of each order, and is connected to the point-of-sale systems, so when a customer leaves, their receipts are taken care of automatically. We have created both backend and frontend web applications, four apps for mobile devices – one for the point-of-sale, one for the kitchen staff, one for the bar area, and one for tables – as well as multiple hardware and software integrations.

For example, we have a beer tap system that looks like the counters at a petrol station. It’s connected to our Tap app, an electronic tablet, as well as NFC readers and flow meters. The valves are custom-made by our German partner.

This system requires fewer employees, lessening the burden on existing staff, and increases restaurant profits.
